After eight months of extensive energy-efficiency renovations, the City of Tournai’s Natural History Museum and Vivarium will reopen its doors on Saturday, December 6, 2025. To mark this reopening, a festive program open to everyone—from local residents to visiting tourists—will be offered throughout the day!
An opening day packed with activities
To celebrate Saint Nicholas Day, several activities will be organized:
- 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Saint Nicholas will be present and will hand out gifts to the children;
- All day: a self-guided scavenger hunt through the museum galleries;
- from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: guided talks in the “Did You Know?” format, punctuating the visit with anecdotes and discoveries;
- at 3 p.m.: “Journey Through Time with Danses et Cie,” a 30-minute performance featuring historical dances, particularly from the 19th century.
At the same time, the temporary exhibition “In Somnia,” dedicated to nocturnal animal species, has been extended and remains open to the public.
A weekend dedicated to culture
On Sunday, December 7, admission will be free to all municipal museums. In collaboration with the Tournai Guides Association, walk-in guided tours in the “Did You Know?” format will also be offered every Sunday in December.
